Strength Testing
by Joey on Dec.28, 2011, under Uncategorized
This is a quick demonstration as to how the power center works. You are strongest when you are in your power center, shown above. However, when outside of the power center, your strength is greatly reduced.
To test the attackers strength in this choke or grab position: position your arms inside your attackers arms and try to push out. Impossible to do!
As you push through his arms clapse into each other.
Have your attacker hold his arms in position shown, as if he is in a choke position. Push arms from outside – inside. He will not be able to hold off the push inward.
Testing your strength from this position. Have someone put their hand in the small of your lower back, the other on your chess. Try to lean up right. Impossilbe to do.
Death of an American Hero
by Joey on Oct.28, 2011, under Uncategorized
America has lost 2 more sons and a daughter. Sergeant 1st Class Kristoffer B. Domeij, as you may have heard by know, was mortally wounded along with two others; Lieutenant Ashley White, 24, and Private 1st Class Christopher A. Horns, 20, by an IED explosion, Saturday near Kandahar Province. This was Kristoffer’s 14th deployment. No comments needed…..just a moment of silence for those who are now at peace. Remember them always for the price they paid. God rest their souls. To the families, we send our love and prayers. Honor them for their commitment, morn them along with their families;
To those still fighting, remember: A warriors soul never dies, it simple stands watch over those still fighting.

Mace or Pepper Spray? On Who and Where?
by Joey on Oct.13, 2011, under Uncategorized
Understand your self defense tools…know their advantages and disadvantages. Many self defense programs and classes sell and use pepper spray and/or mace as a main part of their self defense programs.
Our concern: An overwhelming percentage (87%) of sexual assaults/attacks are carried out by people you know. The attack is unsuspected and close at hand. Not to mention the fact that you know them.
You don’t walk around your house, apartment, a party or school with a spray can in your hand and ready to go. Don’t get us wrong it can be effective; when in your hands, ready to go in other situations. You just don’t have it when you need it the most.
Think about the facts that say by whom you are the most likely to be assaulted and where. Tough to think about but we need to be clear about this. You need skills that are practical, easy to remember and with you all the time. You can fight back and not be a victim. Self empowerment. Reports say as much as 95% of women who fight back get away.
Self defense for Women. Always be prepare, your head and your hands are your best tools. For more information check out our website www.actselfdefense.com, call us or take one of our classes.

by Joey on Sep.01, 2011, under Uncategorized
For those that have started school! RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) has released a “Back to School Safety Tips” article. Focused towards university students, this article gives many tips and precautions regarding school campus safety.
“College aged students are at the highest risk for being sexually assaulted; the majority of rapes are committed by someone who the victim knows. Being aware of this risk, looking out for your friends and using a bit of common sense are often the first steps in staying safe.” RAINN
